Session Type: Symposium
Transparency, justice, and fairness are critical issues to address in online educational research, evaluation, and learning analytics for postsecondary students in online education. This symposium advances justice by addressing research integrity threats and re-envisioning transparent and participatory research. This symposium explores informed consent in online education research, addressing 1) policies and frameworks for student-centered practices, 2) understanding the many different types of data collected via LMS, 3) participant perceptions of ethics and transparency of learning data; and 4) the capacity to provide informed consent in research utilizing AI. Panelists will discuss strategies for promoting a culture of consent in online higher education.
