Session Type: Roundtable Session
The symposium explores recent advancements in practice-oriented empirical educational research in Germany. The objective is to foster interdisciplinary collaboration within academic disciplines, closer research-practice cooperation, and strong support from educational policy and administration. This session presents three methodological innovations, each demonstrated through empirical applications in German educational research projects. These innovations include participatory social network analysis within nine multi-professional collaborative school networks, participatory focus groups involving approximately 130 teachers and administrators, and the methodological approach of meta-reflection, which was piloted with teachers from six German high schools. Despite the specific conditions of the German school system, the symposium facilitates multi-perspective international dialogue on participatory qualitative research settings to foster mutual learning and methodological development.
