Session Type: Symposium
This symposium highlights how community cultural wealth and student voice reshape college and career readiness. Using participatory and mixed methods, studies explore: (1) first-generation students navigating cultural collisions through youth participatory action research; (2) culturally responsive school counseling practices that integrate community strengths to promote wellness and readiness; (3) how counselor support affects FAFSA completion for rural and first-generation students; and (4) BIPOC students’ experiences in Advanced Placement coursework. Findings reframe readiness as an asset-based process and provide actionable implications for policy and practice.
