Session Type: Symposium
This Symposium provides a glimpse into efforts by researchers and educators in the areas of curriculum development and instructional design at various levels of education, from intensive Islamic studies programs to faith-based and public schools. The presentations showcase different segments of student population, from early childhood to higher education. The studies together highlight the overall significance of curricular integration in an interdisciplinary setting but do so within their individual focus areas. As such, the papers give valuable insight into creative ways of balancing revealed and secular knowledge along with upholding cultural identities. In doing so, the Symposium advances our knowledge of how researchers and educators are affirming both religious and cultural traditions through schooling for diverse populations in the US.
