Building from our Histories and Transforming Future Methodologies and Pedagogies in EdD programs

Sun, April 12, 9:45 to 11:15am PDT (9:45 to 11:15am PDT), Los Angeles Convention Center, Floor: Level One, Petree D

Session Type: Roundtable Session

Abstract

This symposium brings together students, alums, and faculty from Educational Doctorate (EdD) programs to share methodologies and pedagogies that sustain their communities and challenge traditional doctoral research in their programs. These papers highlight histories, collective struggles, and envision the future of EdD research. The faculty in these programs take on the arduous labor of supporting non-traditional students who work full-time yet the work of the students as transformative educational leaders sustains the relationships between faculty and students and ultimately transforms traditional research for social justice. Papers in this symposium speak of the many ways that students and faculty worked together, learned together, and built together to engage with expansive frameworks, transform the educational doctorate, and sustain community during challenging times.
