Session Type: Symposium
This symposium presents six studies evaluating the implementation and impact of community school initiatives across four states and two major cities. As community schools rapidly expand through historic public investments, high-quality evaluation is urgently needed to guide policy and practice. Studies in this session use diverse methodologies—quasi-experimental designs, multilevel modeling, longitudinal tracking, and mixed-methods approaches—to examine outcomes such as attendance, school climate, and academic achievement. Together, these papers offer timely insights into how community schools operate in varied contexts and how evaluation strategies can capture their complex effects. By highlighting emerging findings and shared challenges, this session contributes to the growing national conversation on building credible, equity-centered evidence for community school transformation.
