Session Type: Roundtable Session
This symposium will describe how a long-standing research practice partnership (RPP) in Los Angeles supports local educational improvement. Using three research projects as illustrative cases, teams of central office school district staff members and university researchers will share their insights about working together, the processes that have facilitated the development of evidence that the district finds useful, and barriers to research use. The symposium will be of interest to conference participants whose work focuses on educational improvement, education policy, evidence use, and research practice partnerships. It will also interest participants whose work intersects with one of the varied substantive topics of the projects (school transportation, ethnic studies courses, and middle school math tracking).
