Session Type: Symposium
The Increasing College Access Network (ICAN) is designed to improve educational experiences and outcomes, particularly for student populations that are historically underrepresented in higher education, by providing high-quality, online dual enrollment (DE) courses in math and English. In this symposium, we will share resources to guide the design and implementation of online DE innovations that integrate strategies to develop students’ social-emotional learning (SEL) outcomes, best practices for onboarding and supporting instructors of DE courses, and findings from an independent evaluation of the implementation of ICAN and its impact on students’ academic and SEL outcomes. While the ICAN project took place in two community colleges in Minnesota, the resulting resources and lessons learned apply across educational contexts.
