Session Type: Symposium
The research teams in this symposium investigate the state of career development opportunities in seven large districts across the nation. We present papers from five teams, including three research-practice partnerships, who have engaged in research with seven large school districts. Our studies describe variation in career development opportunities, determine which opportunities most strongly predict positive student outcomes, and identify disparities in who has access to them. Together, the studies address scholarly gaps in what is known about the diverse ways districts are reimagining career development and the future of vocational learning. Findings also provide evidence for how districts can build and/or reform career development opportunities to engage all students, preparing them for futures of their choosing.
