Session Type: Symposium
This symposium examines research-practice partnerships (RPPs) that advance social and educational equity, with insights from both researchers and practitioners. RPPs offer a unique opportunity to collectively challenge deficit-based narratives in education and broader society. Realizing this potential requires reflection on how to strategically leverage the unique roles of each partner. Presenters will share lessons learned from four different RPPs serving historically marginalized communities in the U.S., emphasizing mutual learning, co-created knowledge, and actionable strategies. Attendees will gain practical insights into initiating, strengthening, and sustaining effective partnerships, along with evidence of their impact. The session will conclude with an interactive discussion exploring the distinct contexts, challenges, and successes of each RPP, offering participants concrete ideas for developing their own equity-focused partnerships.
