Abstract

Join the Loyola Marymount University Digital Veterans Legacy Project team for an interactive learning experience at Los Angeles National Cemetery (LANC). Attendees will explore Presenters will share how they engaged K-12 educators and students in biographical and historical research at can engage with public history sites that aligned with and develop K–12 curriculum and classroom activities. The session includes:
1. a brief orientation to the Digital Veterans Legacy Project and the cemetery as a learning space,
2. exploration of cemetery grounds using selected veteran profiles,
3. a showcase of learning resources developed as part of this project, and connection to 21st century skills framework,
4. a closing reflection focused on practical takeaways for lesson design and ethical storytelling.

Accessibility & preparation: This session takes place outside and involves walking short distances on paved roads and sidewalks within around the cemetery grounds. Please wear comfortable walking shoes and bring water (sun protection recommended). Paved roads are available throughout the cemetery grounds. Refreshments will be available.

Transportation & timing: Bus transportation is provided available for a limited number who register. Depart: 9:00 AM (meet in the hotel lobby; loading at the Olympic Blvd side entrance) Meet-up location: JW Marriott Los Angeles L.A. LIVE, 900 West Olympic Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90015. Arrive at LANC by 9:45am. Return: Leave LANC at 1:00 PM; back by ~1:30 PM. Driving directions will be provided for those who prefer arranging their own transportation.
