Session Type: Symposium
This session invites participants to engage in futuring education and education research through “intentional collective planning and future making that seeks to spark innovation, sustainability, and equitable opportunities” (Winn, 2025 as cited in Winn, 2025, p. 1). By creating dialogue across four papers sharing resonant environmental justice education projects in Chicago and Los Angeles, we will explore how local histories, ecological challenges, and science education initiatives can inform collective action toward more just and sustainable futures. These papers are held together by their emphasis on research practice partnerships and participatory design research while each represents a different point of departure and visions of justice.
