Session Type: Symposium
This interactive symposium will feature the first two years of iterative design and development of a curriculum initiative supported by public funds to create an interdisciplinary, anti-colonial, and inclusive K-12 curriculum to explore Latinidad in the city’s public schools. Presenters will share the conceptual framing and supporting research and rationale for the initiative, including data from community town halls and the perspectives of student and teacher collaborators who contributed to the development of the conceptual framework and upper division curriculum, as well as sample lesson plans and curricular resources. The presentations will address how various aspects of the initiative, including the collaborative design process, are grounded in teacher inquiry and ongoing feedback from youth and communities.
