Abstract

Please join the Sociology of Education SIG for our annual Business Meeting and Awards session at AERA. We will provide updates on the state of the SIG, share information about upcoming initiatives and programming, and recognize this year’s SIG award recipients. We are especially honored to celebrate the recipient of the Elizabeth G. Cohen Distinguished Career Award, Dr. William A. Smith, Jon M. Huntsman Presidential Chair and Distinguished Professor at the University of Utah. Dr. Smith will deliver an invited address in conjunction with the award presentation entitled, "Naming the Injury, Shaping the Field: Reflections on Racial Battle Fatigue, Scholarship, and Collective Possibility.” We look forward to gathering with SIG members to reflect on our collective accomplishments and discuss future directions for the sociology of education community. All are welcome!
