Session Type: Paper Session
This session examines the cultural and political battlegrounds shaping U.S. education. Papers analyze how media frame multilingualism, how far-right groups mobilize disinformation, and how demographic change drives book bans and censorship. Case studies show districts and institutions navigating equity backlashes, from reframing anti-racism to dismantling LGBTQIA+ supports. These studies reveal how struggles over language, race, gender, and identity shape belonging and equity in schools and higher education.
