Session Type: Roundtable Session
This roundtable examines how politics and reform intersect to shape schools across global and U.S. contexts. Papers analyze China’s Double Reduction Policy, experiments with democratic participation in K–12 governance, and the enduring legacy of Plyler v. Doe for undocumented youth. Additional studies historicize responses to educational crises and investigate how school board members navigate “Big P” partisan polarization and “little p” local conflicts. They illuminate reforms’ promises, tensions, and political struggles.
