Session Type: Paper Session
This vice presidential session will present findings from a university-school collaboration that built and implemented an Ethnic Studies Dual Enrollment Program between Cal Poly Pomona and five high schools (Garey, Ganesha, Diamond Ranch, Fremont, and Pomona) in the Pomona Unified School District (PUSD), whose student body is 95% of color (U.S. News and World Report, 2025). The collaboration focused on increasing the number of college-eligible high school students from PUSD while increasing their college credits (via dual enrollment) that subsequently increased the PUSD’s College and Career Readiness (CCR) Index. Simultaneously, CA AB1460 (2020) required that all CSU students take an Ethnic Studies course (Area F).
