This session examines the evolving landscape of middle level education research through analyses that inform both scholarship and practice. Presenters synthesize trends, frameworks, and global perspectives shaping the field’s future direction. Papers include a scoping review of online pedagogies, a content analysis of Middle Level Education Research (MLER) agenda literature reviews, a research synthesis on global education, and a structural validation of the Successful Middle School Framework. Collectively, these studies provide critical insights into the state of middle level research, identify gaps and opportunities, and offer implications for advancing theory, equity, and effectiveness across diverse educational contexts.
