Session Type: Workshop
This session features a panel of Division H leaders and the debut of archival videos of past Vice Presidents reflecting on AERA’s founding by urban superintendents committed to sharing effective school practices and the subsequent creation of Division H: Research, Evaluation, and Assessment in Schools. From its six original members to over 25,000 today, AERA has evolved into a multidisciplinary organization spanning psychology, economics, sociology, and beyond—while Division H continues to champion school- and district-based research. The session weaves historical footage with live discussion on Division H’s evolving identity, guiding principles, technology leadership, inclusion efforts, and publications. Panelists will connect lessons from Division H’s past to opportunities for strengthening its future contributions to educational research and practice.
