RT6: Tutorials, Guides and Workflows in Quantitative Education Research: Putting our Quantitative Advances into Practical Use

Thu, April 9, 4:15 to 5:45pm PDT (4:15 to 5:45pm PDT), JW Marriott Los Angeles L.A. LIVE, Floor: Ground Floor, Gold 4

Session Type: Roundtable Session

Abstract

This roundtable highlights emerging methodological innovations shaping the future of quantitative and computational research in education. The papers introduce a Bayesian multilevel modeling workflow addressing real-world data challenges; a comprehensive typology for applying matching methods in multilevel educational contexts; a fine-tuned generative language model for automated research summarization; a web-scraping framework for large-scale data collection and analysis; and an empirical study examining graduate students’ integration of AI tools into methodological training. Collectively, these studies demonstrate how advances in Bayesian modeling, causal design, artificial intelligence, and digital data methods can expand analytic capacity, strengthen methodological education, and foster responsible innovation in educational research.
