Session Type: Paper Session
This session examines how Latine students, families, and communities navigate, contest, and reimagine educational spaces within K–12 schooling. Drawing from critical, community-based, and decolonial frameworks, the papers interrogate representation in school psychology research, uncover hidden narratives of migrant mothers, and highlight the schooling experiences of recently arrived Central American and Latin American youth. Additionally, the panel explores Latinx parent visions for equity-driven school leadership and the everyday negotiations of belonging in racially stratified schools. Collectively, these studies challenge deficit-based perspectives and illuminate the cultural wealth, resilience, and agency of Latine communities. Together, they call for transformative, justice-oriented educational practices that center Latine voices and affirm their lived experiences.
