Wed, April 8, 11:45am to 1:15pm PDT (11:45am to 1:15pm PDT), Los Angeles Convention Center, Floor: Level Two, Room 402A

Session Type: Invited Speaker Session

Abstract

This fireside chat convenes scholars, practitioners, and advocates to examine changing federal and political priorities on PK–12 schools, including challenges to public school funding, shifts in immigration policy and enforcement, and policy uncertainty that disrupts district planning. Panelists will share strategies for leadership, including strengthening coalitions and responding to resource and equity concerns. The discussion will highlight how researchers can partner with leaders to anticipate funding and policy challenges, balance federal and community priorities, and mobilize research to support student success and community connection. This session fosters collaboration to sustain equitable, well-resourced schools in the current context by centering perspectives from school board members and practitioners alongside researchers.
