Division I Fireside Chat: Constructing a Constellation of Education in the Professions: Insights from Fields

Abstract

Although Division I’s work has historically focused on medical and health education, the division has increasingly become a home for scholars examining the education of pre- and current-professionals across diverse occupations and industries. As the division continues to expand, fields such as adult and continuing education, engineering education, higher education, and teacher education have offered critical insights that enrich its work. This session addresses this growing scope by bringing together scholars from these areas to discuss how Education in the Professions intersects with their research, its theoretical and practical positioning, and its equitable and inclusive futures. Panelists will share their field’s perspectives on education in the professions, followed by a facilitated discussion exploring overlaps, tensions, and opportunities for collaboration.
