Session Type: Invited Speaker Session
Recent events and media coverage call attention to the persistent dangers to student safety, yet policy responses often remain reactive, narrow in scope, and center the political priorities of adults rather than the needs of students, particularly those most vulnerable. By convening a diverse panel of researchers, practitioners, and content experts, this session will examine student safety through both contemporary and historical lenses and advance a more holistic vision for student justice.
Presenters will highlight critical issues shaping student safety and underscore how research can inform policies that are not only reactive, but also preventative and future-oriented. Together, we will envision how equity-driven research and policy can foster safer, more inclusive schooling experiences for all students.
