Abstract

Centering Historically Black Colleges and Universities, this paper session explores engagement, policy, and activism shaping HBCU life. Papers reconsider engagement metrics, analyze digital discourse around Pride Month, critique paternalistic governance, and highlight student resistance to political neutrality. Together they portray HBCUs as dynamic laboratories for liberatory education and democratic participation.
