This session showcases research on augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) that supports independent living, safety, and empowerment for individuals with complex communication needs. Presentations explore AAC partners’ understanding of abuse-related vocabulary, evidence-based interventions using iOS devices, and collaborative frameworks that support families of color. Attendees will gain insights into communication strategies and technology that promote independence and equitable access for AAC users.
