Session Type: Roundtable Session
This session presents four studies examining how accessible and ethical uses of technology shape language learning, identity, and equity. Set in varied contexts—including Canadian after-school programs, high school classrooms, Turkish university EFL courses, and global SLA research—the papers employ mixed methods, case study, and systematic review approaches. Together, they explore AI-generated L1 audio for reading inclusion, non-digital gamification for L2 writing, low-tech virtual reality for belonging and engagement, and a decade-long review of generative AI in SLA through interactionist and ethical lenses. Across these studies, technology is not positioned as innovation alone but as a means to expand access, affirm learner identities, and address inequities in language education.
