Session Type: Roundtable Session
This roundtable explores conceptual and historical dimensions of Dewey's philosophy across cultural and temporal contexts. Papers examine Dewey's reception and transformation in modern China, the philosophical concept of calling in secular education, democracy and technology from industrialization through the digital age, and moral education as response to democratic fragility. Through philosophical analysis and historical inquiry, these papers trace how Deweyan ideas travel across borders, adapt to different contexts, and address evolving challenges. Interactive discussion will consider theoretical frameworks, cross-cultural philosophical translation, and how Dewey's concepts remain relevant for understanding contemporary educational and democratic challenges globally.
