Session Type: Paper Session
This session explores the interconnection between restorative justice, identity, and the geographies of exclusion as a fight for the humanness of students at risk of school removal. The presentations will discuss restorative circles, classroom reward systems, and how “isolation spaces”, where a student is placed in solitary confinement, are one of the most significant human rights issues facing education. Furthermore, this session will discuss how student voice can counter punitive classroom practices while challenging the narrative of who belongs in schools.
