Session Type: Invited Speaker Session
Music, like published scholarship, lives forever. It can be used to honor past contributors and moments in time, while also leveraged for innovation and genre disruption. Eight scholars will join each other on stage in pairs of two for a dynamic presidential session that combines music and academic dialogue. During each 20-minute set, AERA Past President Shaun Harper (whose DJ alias is sharper1) will play five songs that each pair of scholars chose. Specifically, the four duos will connect their five song titles and/or lyrics to significant career moments, to their full bodies of work, to greatest hits from their research catalogues, and to philosophical stances on education and educational research. At the end of the 90-minute experience, a free downloadable playlist inclusive of all 20 tracks will be made available to session attendees.
