Abstract

Comedy as a Form of Joy and Rebellion in Times of Crisis explores the role of comedy as both a source of collective joy and a form of cultural and political critique. In a moment marked by challenges to democracy, threats to well-being, and ongoing struggles for justice, the session considers how humor can serve as a space for reflection, resistance, and imagination. The session will feature a series of short comedic “sets” and satirical reflections that engage themes central to educational research, offering sharp and playful commentary on the field and the broader social contexts shaping it. Bringing together scholars and performers, the session invites participants to laugh, think, and reflect on how humor can illuminate the complexities of education, power, and public life.
