Examining Racial Attitudes With the Anti-Racism Disposition Scale for School Administrators (ARDSA)

Abstract

The Anti-Racism Disposition Scale for School Administrators (ARDSA) is anchored in Critical Race Theory (CRT). Reliability was investigated as well as comparisons of subscales by race and gender and levels of agreement with need for professional development about anti-racism. Findings indicate that women in the sample were more open to issues of racism than men, that there were significant differences for White, Black, and Latinx on Engaging in Dialogue about Racism with Close Connections, with White people finding this the most difficult, and that for the group that most agreed with the need for professional development about anti-racism, the subscales that were significant were Perceptions of Racial Inequities, Addressing Racism, and Critical Self Awareness about Race.
