Teacher Self- and Collective Efficacy: An Argument for a Comprehensive Measure

Abstract

The goal of the pilot research study was to test the newly created Perceived Collective Teacher Efficacy Measure to obtain initial data regarding the tool’s ability to simultaneously measure the collective and individual efficacies of educators, analyze its reliability and subgroup and subscale correlations, discuss the results, and project possibilities for future development of the measure. The study used survey responses from 29 pre-service educators who were in their field placements at a large, public, urban university in the Midwest region of the United States to assess the efficacy and psychometric trends of the measure for potential future research concerning collective teacher efficacy.
