Abstract

With the aim to contribute to the ethical practice in qualitative research, this work draws upon Buddhist teachings of all-beings-are-equal and repentance, adding insights to the discussion of researcher-participant relationship and reflexivity. With a thematic analysis of the researcher’s research journal, data reveal how the teaching of all-beings-are-equal and repentance are incorporated in the research design and practices. This work invites Buddhist teaching, a rarely explored paradigm in qualitative inquiry, to the contemporary discourse about research ethics and spirituality.
