This qualitative study examined the relationship between a sense of belonging and college
persistence among racial/ethnic minority undergraduates. Findings reveal that Black students’ sense of belonging was shaped by racialized history of the campus and everyday, racially charged interactions with faculty, staff, and peers on campus.
