Peace education in the USA has occurred in a variety of ways through instruction from childhood to graduate education. Peace education’s trends throughout the past half-century in the nation’s schools have been partially facilitated by school teachers and members of external organizations However, it is rarely provided in initial teacher preparation. Content analysis of terminology in the existing programs of the USA as well as the discourses of interviewees and survey respondents informed the findings of this study. The discussion identifies hindrances to and recommendations for increasing peace education in the USA. Incomplete guidelines for its facilitation and inadequate curriculum constrain peace education in all levels of education. Nongovernmental organizations that partner with schools influence the elements of peace education.
