Abstract

The purpose of our paper is to examine the shared experiences of three women in academia in the field of special education and to provide critical insight that can support doctoral students who have been historically marginalized in U.S. higher education. As emerging scholars with mutual research interests regarding the educational needs of students with disabilities, we espouse a feminist intersectional and de/colonial lens to examine our shared experiences leading us to our current endeavor as doctoral students. Collectively, we come to the writing understanding our complex, intersecting identities as women who self-identify as Diné, Latina, and white. Utilizing collective testimonio, we establish a point of convergence to weave together themes of duality, otherness, and shared purpose.
