Examining the Association Between Professional Learning Community and Teacher Leadership

Abstract

This study examined the Canonical Correction of two constructs: teacher leadership and professional learning. The sample was from 325 teachers in South Texas. Teacher leadership was measured by the instrument of Professional Learning Communities (PLC) and the professional learning was measure by the instrument of Teacher Leadership School Survey (TLSS). The authors were concerned about how two constructs of PLC and TLSS are related to each other canonically. The findings indicated that the ranges of coefficients between the constructs and dimensions were from 0.49 to 0.82. The canonical correlation coefficient was 0.85. The squared canonical correlation coefficient was 0.7309, which means that 73.09% of the variance can be explained and shared by these constructs.
