This paper reports on an exploratory study on students’ reasoning about angles as they engaged in digital tasks exploring the generation of angles dynamically. We present data from a design experiment with a third-grade student to provide an example of the forms of reasoning that are possible when students engage in such explorations. Specifically, our findings show that students can conceive an angle as a union of two rays generated by a rotation that can be quantified as a traced wedge. These dynamic explorations illustrate the potential of this approach for supporting students in bridging geometric, fractional, and multiplicative forms of reasoning.
