The study examines the relationship between social skills development and short-term career outcomes among graduates of private colleges and universities. Drawing on data from over 5,000 alumni from 68 private institutions, the development of social skills in college was examined in relation to employment and job quality immediately following graduation, while controlling for a host of individual and institutional factors. Findings highlight the complex connection between development of soft skills in college and labor market outcomes.
