Exploring the Role of the PBL Pedagogical Idea in the Digital Transformation of Higher Education

The purpose of this contribution is to explore the role of the PBL pedagogical idea in the digital transformation of higher education teaching and learning. By use of the scoping literature review-methodology, a corpus of to date 180 studies retrieved from a Web of Science Core Collection-search are being analyzed through the lens of March’s (1991) framework of organizational ambidexterity. A first scoping shows that ‘PBL use in an explorative mode’ and ’ PBL use in an exploitative mode’ are viable categories to classify the material; emerging sub-categories point into the direction of an assemblage of PBL and digitally transformed practices in areas of teaching and learning for social justice and sustainable change.
