This presentation will share a rubric created for the evaluation of doctoral dissertations in the field of educational research and will examine this rubric through the lens of three theoretical frameworks, each of which presents a distinct perspective regarding the use of curricular objectives. Through this work of educational connoisseurship, this presentation will make the argument that it is critical to examine the objectives of this and any dissertation rubric through the lens of curriculum theory, paying careful attention to what the dissertation rubric itself may be teaching students about the nature of scholarship.
