This quantitative study explores parents’ evaluations of their child’s dual language immersion (DLI) programs, their program commitment plans (until the elementary or the secondary grade level), and potential reasons for leaving. Focusing on Korean-English DLI programs in the Southern California area, this study examines these topics using the survey data collected from more than 450 parents in seven elementary schools. The researcher also probes the extent to which these issues are associated with parents’ demographic characteristics and their views on various program-related topics, including parents’ satisfaction with language development, academic rigor and integration, parental interaction and involvement, and their perceived school environment. The study’s findings will add meaningful insights to the growing discussions around DLI from accountability and policy perspectives.
