Qualification of Prospective PE Teachers for Inclusive PE Teaching

Abstract

Up to now, no model of professional competence of physical education (PE) teachers for inclusive PE exists that corresponds to the current state of discussion and consequently there is no teaching concept based on it. The aim of the project, funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, is to develop and to evaluate a competence-based didactical concept for inclusive PETE. First, a model of professional competencies is generated. Typical requirement situations in inclusive PE are identified on the basis of a broad understanding of inclusion and the necessary courses of action, situation-specific skills and dispositions are determined. Based on this, a teaching sequence is developed. Finally, the effectiveness of the teaching sequence is tested.
