Embodying Counterconduct: Experiences of Truth and Revolutionary Life as Elements of Equitable Education

Abstract

This synoptic paper attends to contemporary embodiments of counter-conduct as truth-telling, and substantiates the imperative of experiences of truth and the question of revolutionary life as elements of equitable education. Amidst our current crises of education, attending to new modalities of counter-conduct organizes resistance and struggle against governmental logics. Such modalities are significant as parrhesiastic practice enables teachers and students to enact the truth of their being characterized by radical courage. In conversation with Foucault’s image of governmentality and historicization of the cynics, this paper rationalizes notions of truth as ways of being and doing, ways of conducting oneself.
