Abstract

This paper travels through different dimensions of the Transformational Indigenous Praxis Model (TIPM) by sharing examples that draw upon scholarship in higher education. The journey begins by critically examining scholarly examples of historical denialism, followed by an example illustrating the limits of well-intentioned Eurocentric scholarship. We then look at examples of scholarship that critically deconstruct Eurocentric epistemological hegemony and center on Indigenous epistemologies. We conclude with a dialogue whose methodology highlights Indigenous ways of being and recognizing the need to embrace contextualized epistemologies in higher education to honor the sovereignty of Indigenous education.
