Education Research Movements of a Garden, Museum, and Theater: A Participatory Investigation

Abstract

Following the AERA conference theme to “dismantle, redesign, and reconstruct systems,” data from three education studies framed with migrations and disruptive philosophies conducted in a museum, theatre, and gardens are presented to point toward approaches of how the arts and movement are useful for designing, conducting and presenting research and curriculum that provide resistance to institutional structures and escape routes from the status quo. By way of post-qualitative and novel multimedia methods, the three studies are traced using lines that demarcate their respective territories, and subsequently project migratory movements that blur boundaries between the studies, researchers, audiences, and other living and non-living beings, to demonstrate and create new research possibilities.
