Reclaiming Identity: Testimonios of Graduate Latinas at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley

Abstract

This analysis uses testimonio to explore the experiences of five graduate Latinas at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. The research purposes to 1) aid in the reclamation of the researcher’s identity, 2) apply critical frameworks in examining the socio-historical positioning of Latinx women, 3) engage in intercultural dialogue, 4) uncover thematic patterns in participant testimonios, 5) open-up new spaces for reinvention and creation, and 6) provide recommendations for best practices in the attainment of higher education.
