Abstract

This paper explores the process of creating an artistic literature review through the Desktop Documentary Format. I first explain my aims to combine my learnings from an Arts-Based Educational Research course with a literature review on charter schools and teachers’ unions and my hopes to capture the process and emotional experience of finding literature that validated and explained my and my participants’ experiences. I found the process of creating a Desktop Documentary met these aims and allowed me to surface reflections I would not otherwise have found. I end by explaining my future hopes for this process and its connections to existing literature on Arts-Based research.
