Abstract

In this presentation, we examine college student perceptions of their personal wellness and wellness needs during the COVID-19 pandemic. We analyzed pre (Fall 2020) and post (Spring 2021) survey data from the 2020-2021 academic year of enrolled college students in a large Teachers College. Undergraduate and graduate student participants completed demographic measures, open-ended response questions, and validated survey measures addressing personal wellbeing, self-efficacy, and food insecurity. Women had significantly lower wellness scores than men, undergraduates had lower wellness scores than graduate, and undergraduates had higher food insecurity than graduate students. This research is relevant for identifying areas of college student wellness that need to be examined in greater detail to better design meaningful wellness resources and supports for college students.
